All day Crop plus mini workshop with Judi Hodgkin
The theme of today’s mini workshop is yet to be confirmed but we thought that we would announce the date so that you have the opportunity to pencil it in your diary or even just book your ‘cos you just know that you’re gonna enjoy a day of cropping no matter what the theme! Don’t forget that places are limited to six for this event. The crop event itself is your opportunity to come along to an informal scrapbooking session. You can use our tools, share your ideas and Judi will be on hand to help, advise and answer your questions. Bring photos, bits ’n’ pieces or any other ‘nik–naks’ that you want to match up and make into a scrapbooking page. Suitable for all levels. Everyone’s welcome! Vague about Vellum? With Julia Budd
Feeling a bit vague about how to attach vellum to the face of your cards? Want to know which inks actually dry on a vellum surface? Want some tips for colouring on a vellum surface? Even if you know all of this and more, this will be a fun workshop working with a fab papers. |

Paints & colour washes - creating backgrounds with Judi Hodgkin
In this workshop you will be using acrylic and watercolour paints to create washes and using paint for effect when matting & layering. You will also use Tim Holtz’s Adirondack Colour Washes as well as stamping with acrylic paint to get a different look from when you use ink pads. Once you’ve mastered the techniques there are loads of different effects that you can create with your own paints & colour washes. You will create a number of card blanks to try out different techniques. Each of these can be embellished further for a variety of different occasions or kept as a reminder on how to recreate the effects at home for your card making or scrap booking. |

Working with Ultra Thick Embossing Powder with Judi Hodgkin
An introduction to the Melting Pot from Ranger by Suze Weinberg. You will play with a melting pot and some Ultra Thick Embossing Powder (UTEE) to create some cool embellishments for pages and cards. We’ll also play with medical slides to create cute framed photos or embellishments. Plus there is the opportunity to bring along your favourite rubber stamp to use in this workshop – keep it fairly small and not too detailed. In this workshop you won’t leave with a completed project, but you will leave with a number of embellishments, (at least three), for you to use in your card making or scrapbooking. |

Stamping and heat embossing tips & techniques with Chrissie Terrey
So you take a stamp, ink it up, print an image & maybe even heat emboss it, but exactly what else can you do with rubber stamps, ink pads, embossing powders & a heating tool? You’ll be surprised! Come & pick up some tips, techniques, ideas & inspiration! Learn about methods such as mirroring, masking & moving images, simple decoupage & layering techniques, triple embossing, brayering and spotlight stamping. |

Brilliant Brads with Janice Harris
Janice has come up with some fantastic ways to use brads in your card making projects. You will be using funky flower & heart brads from the Papermania collection to embellish your projects & you will also learn a nifty technique using brads to conceal a hidden message on a card. |

Paper Embroidery with Maria Doland
At these workshops you will learn how to use pricking templates to create shapes and patterns in card and paper, which are then embroidered with coloured and metallic threads. You can create beautiful images such as flowers and butterflies to embellish your paper craft projects with. Once you have mastered the basics this is a very straightforward and satisfying technique. |

Dusted for effect – using chalks with Judi Hodgkin
Today you will work with chalks to create different effects and gorgeous additions, & learn how to paint with chalks and create shadows on your artwork. You will be making at least one card as well as a single-page beach themed layout, so dig out those sandy seaside summer snaps & bring them for your layout. |

Transfer techniques with Judi Hodgkin
This workshop is all about finding new & interesting ways to put images & words onto surfaces. There are a variety of ways of doing this & today you will explore some of them to create an ‘altered card’ & a vintage scrapbook page. Methods include the use of heat transfer sheets, packing tape & gel medium, each creating a different & interesting effect.
You should bring with you a piece of text or an image that you love copied on a black & white photocopier. Please note that inkjet or laser printed images will not work & ideally the image should have been copied recently but at least 12 hours ago. |

Mini Album workshop, (Judi’s baby book), with Judi Hodgkin
In a change from our normal monthly crop; at this workshop you will be creating an entire mini album from scratch, this project is one that Judi has had published in 12 X 12 Scrapbooking Magazine.
Many of you have seen & admired Judi’s mini baby album so now here’s your chance to create your own!
This event is going to be crammed full of techniques! You will be taking all of the skills that you have learned from Judi’s other workshops plus learning a few new ones to build a totally unique 6 X 6 album with four pages filled with pockets, recesses & beautiful bits and pieces to remind you of everything that you will learned!
Everything that you need will be provided including calico fabric, screws & hinges, extra large eyelets & board for the covers. All you need to bring is 8 to 12 small photos of one person or event. Judi says that black & white or sepia work the best but don’t worry if colour photos are all that you have, they can work too! If you like you can also bring other memorabilia & your favourite cutting & cropping tools, otherwise as always our tools & equipment will be on hand. |

Introduction to Scrapbooking with Judi Hodgkin
As it is the school holiday’s teenagers are welcome to attend this workshop, it could be the perfect opportunity for you to spend some ‘Mum & Daughter’ time together!
At this workshop you will learn about why is it important, when preserving precious photos, to use acid and lignin free products and how can you identify which products are safe to use? We will cover how to organise and sort your images and suitable preservation steps you should take before you’re ready to scrapbook your photos. We’ll talk a little about 3 basic design concepts; the rule of thirds, the z line and colour. You’ll learn how and when to crop your photos and the best glues to use to adhere your photos safely. You should bring with you 10-15 photos of one event (please bring copies only, not your precious 80 year old originals). You will complete a layout themed around the photos that you bring. |

Envelopes, pockets & pull-outs with Judi Hodgkin
Well, the workshop title says it all! Judi will be showing you how to make these fabulous little embellishments & giving you some ideas of how to work them into your card making & scrapbooking projects. They are ideal for adding an interactive aspect to your art work or for having a ‘secret message’ on your card or in your scrapbook, like that slushy bit of journaling that you simply have to include but that you don’t want everyone to see. |

‘Christmas in August’ Launch Weekend
This year we are launching our annual ‘Christmas in August’ week with a twenty four hour Christmas Card making marathon in aid of The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Living Appeal. We are going to start making Christmas cards at midnight on Friday and we are not going to stop until Midnight on Saturday. Why not join us some time during the day on Saturday to make a Christmas card or two? We will provide all of the materials and all of the cards that are made will be bagged up & donated to the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice shops to sell. If you are not free to join us then please consider bringing along some of your hand made cards to the shop so that we can bag them up & present them to be sold along with all those made on the day of our marathon.
In addition to the funds that will be raised through the sale of Christmas cards at Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice shops and any money collected on the event day we will also be donating 10% of the shop’s turnover from our Christmas Card Making Marathon day to The Living Appeal.
